Stolen: Carcassi violin with 3 bows

Lorenzo Carcassi 1740, Florence

The instrument was stolen in Canonbury (London) on the 18th February 2025.

It was in a black Riboni Unoeotto case with no pocket (last pictures)

The case contained the violin which has a very distinctive hole in the shape of a heart in the scroll.

It also contains three bows: Morizot - Frères (unlabelled), Dodd bow (with a mother of pearl tip) and a carbon fibre bow.

Eugene Sartory cello bow

The round stick is made of dark brown Pernambuco wood, with ivory and ebony accents at the headplate. The screw is crafted from gold and mother-of-pearl. The bow weighs approximately 83 grams. The frog is made of tortoiseshell with mother-of-pearl eyes and gold rings. The heel plate is also made of gold. Above the frog, there is an inverted stamp of Eugene Sartory.

Distinctive feature: A section of the headplate has been repaired.
