Following a very successful violin restoration and bow making and restoration course at Halsway last
October, we are delighted to announce that we have reserved the whole manor for 12 days this
coming October.

My feeling is that this length of course is ideal, making it well worth packing up your tools and coming to this beautiful part of Somerset for a working holiday.
As in October 2021, everyone attending will be a participant and there will be no teachers. Each person will have their own bench and light and can bring whatever they like to work on, violin or bow making, restoration or repair. All will be able to work and watch and learn from one another and of course socialise afterwards. This workshop is not aimed at beginners, but rather those who are comfortable with independent working and want to escape their own workshops for a productive few days with other like-minded makers.
We believe mixing violin and bow makers together works well and will enable more people to experience the lovely environment that Halsway offers. Those making most dust and shavings will be working in the Mews workshops while those making less mess will be in the Long Room in the Manor where the violin restorers were in 2022. The new Mews workshops have turned out very well with a good selection of machine tools as well as an outdoor working area. There will be space for up to 42 participants in total.
Halsway Manor only has 27 bedrooms so with the new booking system those signing up first will be able to guarantee their choice of room.
Cost for 12 day workshop:
All options include food from Sunday evening meal to Friday lunch
