The second edition of our set-up course in Halsway, for violin makers at the beginning of their career.
During the week in Halsway we will concentrate on the set-up of a violin, especially the sound post and bridge, as these are the most crucial elements.
Andrew Fairfax and Kathrin Hügel will talk you through every single step before applying the theory
into practice. At the end of the week, you will leave with a step-by-step plan on how to do a bridge
and sound post.
Our aim is to give an overview of all the important aspects of a professional set-up. This will
contribute to make the violin sound as good as it can without compromise in comfort for the player.
There is space for 10 participants on this course.
In order to sign up, you need to have at least finished their second year at a violin making college
(at the time of the course) or have a similar level of experience. Everyone will bring their own violin
to work on, alongside their tools.
Bridges, sound posts and other accessories will be kindly sponsored by The Soundpost.
The course fee is £500-550 depending on choice of room, this includes teaching, accommodation
and food.
