BVMA General Workshop

This course will run at Halsway at the same time as the varnishing course.  It will take place in the Long Room of the Manor and is open to anyone who wants to improve their violin or bow making/restoring.

There will be no teachers but there will be some guidance for those that would like it and of course you will learn from your other colleagues on the course.  Antoine Nédléc and Jeff Phillips who will be running the separate varnish course have kindly agreed to do a couple of demonstrations.  Mark Robinson will also be on hand working on joint BVMA instruments and will be available to offer help. 

For bows Lee Guthrie and Dave Forbes, two of the most experienced and respected bowmakers from the US, will be working on their own bows but also available to help those less experienced.

End 3.30pm – Friday 24th October 2025

Maximum 23 places.

There is a £100 deposit payable at booking with the remaining balance being payable by 30/6/25.  Bursaries are NOT available for this course.

You will be provided with a bench, light and chair but please bring everything else you could possibly need with you to complete your projects.

Keep an eye on your BVMA e-mails for more information about booking your place.  Not all places will be allocated straight away and we may not be able to give you your first choice of accommodation.   Please add yourself to the waiting list if your place isn’t allocated immediately.

The BVMA reserves the right to give a full refund if it is not possible for you to be accommodated on this course.  A full refund less £100 administration charge will be available up to 3 months before the course or less if we can fill the place.  Please take out insurance for any other loss relating to travel etc. should you wish to do so.
